Katie McMinn
Pink Grapefruit Margarita
This is a fun drink for a girl’s night in or a date night in with your partner. I personally enjoy this cocktail in the spring because, for whatever reason, grapefruit makes me think of the spring. This recipe is with real grapefruit juice, which is more of a cream color than the pink color we see in most of the grocery store juice. If you want to have the drink be more on the pink side and make the cocktail mixing process quicker, you can use store-bought grapefruit juice. This is a juice judgment-free zone.
Whether you are juicing your grapefruit or buying store-bought you will want to try this sweet and tart cocktail recipe.
Ingredients
3 oz of grapefruit juice Juice from half a lime 1 oz grapefruit rum 1 oz thyme simple syrup
Directions
Pour a thin layer of salt onto a small plate.
Rim the martini glass with a lime wedge and dip the rim into the salt.
Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake until combined well.
Taste to determine if you want more grapefruit juice or simple syrup.
Fill glass with contents from the shaker and garnish with lime or grapefruit wedge, or be wild and add both.
To make the simple syrup boil equal parts of sugar and water with a handful of thyme sprigs. Once it comes to a boil remove from heat. Once cooled, strain into a pitcher and store in refrigerate for up to a week.
